In this episode Jeremiah talks about a fundamental choice we make in every difficult situation we face. The hypothesis is that when we face times of affliction, we either choose to soften or harden our hearts, and that this choice has massive repercussions in our relationship with God. The experiment is to think about the last few times you’ve faced affliction, and take on the responsibility to keep your heart open before God.

This is so well-explained. It challenges the idea that you have to be angry and hard to live today. It also stresses the power you have to choose your responses. You do NOT have to respond the way others do around you!
I recognize it takes courage to trust God when you are personally in conflict! But we DO have the power to choose our response to the situations we face, in the challenges we have. AND we can also revisit our responses and reverse them or choose to entrust ourselves to God even more deeply in those events that hurt us.
“So let those who are suffering according to God’s will entrust themselves to a faithful Creator by continuing to do what is good.” (1 Peter 4:12)
These are tough and challenging concepts. So glad you are tackling this!
For a moment I seriously thought the scripture reference was going to be “Get busy livin, or get busy dyin” but when I did a search, it didn’t come up.
